Likes and interests: Margaret's faith was very important to her. In her home church in Birmingham she was a Sunday School teacher whilst in Harlington she was Cradle Roll Secretary, Steward, and Fellowship Group Leader. She loved singing and was a member of the singing group. She loved a good debate and often this would be over matters of faith where she would argue strongly about her beliefs. She particularly relished a good doorstep discussion and it was very difficult to get her to change her views on anything. Early in their marriage when carrying say, a cup of tea for each of them, David took to holding Margaret's cup in his right hand as he found it easy to remember that 'Margaret is always right'. She also loved a challenge and would fight hard for causes which she believed to be justified. Sometimes this would be within the church or sometimes in the community over such issues as contentious planning applications which threatened the life of the village. A friend writes: “Her strong faith was an example to me & others in our shared church life. She wasn't afraid to challenge aspects she thought misguided or wrong” Margaret loved nature and expressed this through the joy which she found in her garden and through her flower arranging. In more recent years when she began to find some activities physically challenging she took a keen interest in computers and genealogy and researched her family tree extensively as well as taking on research for other people which on occasions turned up some very interesting facts but all that is confidential ! She loved the challenge of the research and being able to communicate with newly found members of her family across the world by email. She was very pleased recently when John took a copy of the tree to put on the internet as the basis of some research which he is doing on the 'semantic web'. Margaret's family tree may be viewed at: www.thegoodies.org.uk She also loved doing puzzles from the newspaper, especially her beloved Sudoku in which she became quite an expert. Along the way she developed a keen interest in history, in particular social history. Her love of cooking coupled with her very sociable nature and care for others led her to provide hospitality to many people.
